Only have a day or so in Phillip Island? From the penguins to Phillip Island’s beaches, we’ve got you covered with the things to do in this fun-filled region.

Sunrise and whale watching by Pyramid Rock

Start your day away from the crowds at the Pyramid Rock Lookout for a spectacular sunrise – only a 20-minute drive from our BIG4 Phillip Island Caravan Park. Enjoy a short walk with stunning views of the southern coastal area and be on the lookout for kangaroos and wallabies roaming the area as you drive in!

TOP TIP: Bring a pair of binoculars – as whale watching season spans from May to October. You may just be able to spot humpback whales and southern right whales along the coastlines of the island. Some other popular viewing spots are at Cape Woolamai, Surf Beach and The Nobbies.

A morning at the Koala Park

Make your way towards the Koala Conservation Centre as you continue your wildlife adventure. Here’s the perfect chance to come ‘face to face’ with koalas in their natural habitat. This centre is also home to many animals including wallabies, echidnas and bats.

Lunch, then Cowes Beach

As you continue north on the island towards Cowes, stop by Trip Advisor’s #1 restaurant in Cowes - Cheeky Goose Café for a hearty lunch. A popular eatery and pub with plenty of food options for the whole family.

Burn off lunch by taking a stroll along Cowes Main Beach – the most popular Phillip Island beach. It is a patrolled beach during busy periods so is perfect for families with kids.

An afternoon with seals

A short drive to the southwest of the island will lead you to The Nobbies. Take a stroll along the Boardwalk around The Nobbies – which is the most western point on the island – as you enjoy the scenery that characterises Phillip Island’s rugged coastlines. There are several lookout points along the way where you can spot some of the most iconic natural wonders. Don’t forget to bring your camera!

If seals are your spirit animals, don’t miss the Australian fur seals sunbathing on Seal Rocks and fishing in the clear waters just along the shore. It is home to Australia’s largest fur seal colony!

What’s a trip to Phillip Island without visiting the world’s smallest (and cutest) penguins! Just a 5-minute drive from The Nobbies, arrive in time for sunset to catch Phillip Island’s best known attraction - the world-famous Penguin Parade. Phillip Island is home to at least 32,000 fairy penguins, and thousands of these wild penguins waddle back each night after a day out at sea collecting food. To avoid disappointment, we highly recommend that you pre-book your tickets for the Penguin Parade, especially during school holidays and weekends.
