Planning A Road Trip from Melbourne to Phillip Island – Here’s The Places You Have To Visit Along The Way!

Escape the hustle and bustle of the city and take a leisure drive from Melbourne to our caravan park on Phillip Island. Take your time and stop off along the way with the many sights and sounds that the Eastern Suburbs of Melbourne has to offer.
First Stop - St Kilda: Luna Park and St Kilda Beach (duration: 1 to 3 hours)
A short drive from Melbourne’s CBD will land you at the popular beach suburb of St Kilda. First stop of the day is iconic theme park Luna Park Melbourne - you can’t miss the white roller coaster dominating St Kilda’s skyline which has been standing since 1912.
Take a stroll along St Kilda pier, offering panoramic views of the city you’ve left behind - a great photo spot is at the end of the pier.

St Kilda Beach is Melbourne’s most famous beach with a 700m stretch of golden sand overlooking Port Phillip Bay. A wide range of water sports can be found here from windsurfing, sailing to kitesurfing. Try out one of these on a good day, or maybe get some skates on and rollerblade down the boardwalk.
Top tip: if you’re passing by on a Sunday, don’t miss the St Kilda Esplanade Sunday Market from 10am – 4pm, filled with local arts and crafts, and pop-up coffee stalls.

Feeling hungry? If you’re after some good Aussie brunch, give Miss Jackson a try – serving some of the best coffee in the area. Or try something different and give Lentil As Anything a try, a non-profit, pay-as-you-feel restaurant serving tasty vegan and vegetarian food.
Keep room for dessert as award-winning 7Apples serves some of the best artisan gelatos in Melbourne! Salted caramel is a crowd favourite, or try some exciting flavours like Pear & Caramel, Honey & Fig or Croccangelo.
Second stop – Brighton Bathing Boxes (duration: 30-mins)
A famous spot for pictures and another tourist icon of Melbourne, the Brighton Bathing Boxes are a colourful ray of uniformed timber frames with corrugated iron roofs, a showcase of classic Victorian architecture.
With over 82 boxes situated along the beach each with its own unique artistic and colour variation, get happy snapping and posing in front of your favourite designs.

Third and final stop – Royal Botanic Gardens Victoria (duration: 1 to 3 hours)
After a 50-mins drive from Brighton stretch your legs and wander around the Royal Botanic Gardens Victoria at Cranbourne. Boasting an area of 363-hectares including heathlands, wetlands and woodlands, you can easily spend a whole day indulging in the beauty and diversity of the unique Australian landscape and plants.
Feeling peckish? Drop into Kelly’s Hotel for some good grub.
